Care instructions
Just like our hair, scrunchies may get a little dirty and oily from wear! Dirt, sweat, and other impurities can collect on the surface of the cloth, it’s important to give your scrunchies a quick wash too.
Scrunchies are delicate and can possibly break if you pull on them too hard or try to force them to wrap more than TWICE around your hair!
How to wash your scrunchies
- Fill a large bowl or bucket with mild warm water and add a few drops of fabric softener or mild shampoo. Stir until it lathers. You can also use regular shampoo or laundry detergent to wash your scrunchies. Not only will these detergents get the stain out, but they will also keep your scrunchies looking and smelling fresh.
- Scrub and soak your scrunchies a few times gently by hand.
- Rinse off your scrunchies under fresh, running water until they are completely free of soap and dirt.
- Squeeze any excess water out of your scrunchies and lay (or hang) them to dry in a warm, sunny spot for a day. Do not blow-dry them, and try not to expose them to excessive heat.
It’s important that you hand wash all your scrunchies in order to prevent damage. Please DON’T put your handmade Scrunchies in the washing machine or dryer! Clothing can still get caught and twisted and they may not survive! We do not recommend machine washing rayon, linen, wool, or silk scrunchies.
How to Store your scrunchies
Storing your scrunchies properly can make them last a lot longer, good looking, and smell fresh and a lot better.
It keeps dust and other materials from coming in contact with them. Here are a few tips you can use:
- Don’t hang the scrunchies by the elastic, especially in hooks and doorknobs. Instead, use a clip or a peg.
- Always keep them in a cool and dry place. Make sure to avoid moisture and unnecessary heat when you store them.
- If possible, buy yourself a scrunchie holder to make the storage easier.
